RESTON, Va., March 12, 2025 – Audi of America has unveiled the U.S. details for the A6 and S6 Sportback e-tron, arriving this summer. As Audi’s most aerodynamic and longest-range BEV, it offers a sleek Sportback design, advanced MMI® tech, and up to 392 miles of range (ultra® package).
Built on the PPE platform, it features a 94.4 kWh battery with 270kW DC fast charging, reaching 10-80% in 21 minutes. The Sportback design allows up to 39.9 cubic feet of cargo space.
Inside, the Audi digital stage includes a virtual cockpit, MMI screens, an optional passenger display, OLED tech, and headrest-integrated speakers. A panoramic glass sunroof comes standard. Models include rear-wheel drive, quattro, and the high-performance S6.
The A6 e-tron model family arrives in U.S. dealerships in summer 2025, playing a key role in Audi’s transition to electric mobility. It is part of Audi’s largest product initiative, which includes over 20 new or redesigned models—half electric, half combustion—over the next two years.
This initiative is already in motion, with updates to the A3, Q7, Q8, and e-tron GT, plus the Q6 e-tron SUV launch in late 2024. Alongside the A6 Sportback e-tron, new A5 and Q5 models debut this summer, with more announcements to follow.
The exterior: dynamic elegance
The A6 Sportback e-tron’s design emphasizes dynamic elegance with a sleek front, slim daytime running lights, and a wide grille for a low, broad stance. A black mask integrates headlights, ADAS sensors, and air intakes into the signature e-tron look.
Its low ride height and sculpted quattro blisters enhance its sporty presence, while a black sill insert visually slims the profile. The rear features a three-dimensional light strip, a spoiler lip (S6), and a rear diffuser for a powerful finish.
Standard wheels include 20-inch aero design rims with run-flat tires, while ultra® package models get 19-inch dynamic wheels for optimized aerodynamics. The S6 offers 20-inch wheels with optional 21-inch designs.
Available in Premium, Premium Plus, and Prestige trims, the A6 Sportback e-tron offers up to eight exterior colors at launch for the 2025 model year.
Outstanding aerodynamics
Audi's legacy of superior aerodynamics continues with the A6 Sportback e-tron, following in the footsteps of past mid-size icons like the Audi 100 (C3) and Audi 80 (B3). With a class-leading 0.23 Cd, it sets a new standard in efficiency.
Aerodynamic features include optimized air curtains, a slim greenhouse, a sloping roofline, and a controllable cool-air intake for minimal airflow resistance. The underbody enhances efficiency with sealing improvements, specialized wheel trims, and a wide rear diffuser for optimal balance and performance.
Innovative lighting technology
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron showcases Audi’s leadership in lighting design, integrating digital and physical elements. Premium Plus and Prestige trims come with LED headlights plus digital daytime running lights, while Prestige S6 models add second-gen digital OLED taillights.
Prestige trims offer eight customizable digital light signatures, with the S6 pairing them front and rear using 10 OLED panels with 450 segments. A standout feature is the illuminated four-ring Audi logo at the rear, reinforcing Audi’s identity and giving the A6 Sportback e-tron a distinct presence.
MMI® panoramic display and the Audi digital stage
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron interior prioritizes user experience with a three-dimensional, high-contrast design for ergonomic and aesthetic appeal. The MMI panoramic display includes an 11.9-inch virtual cockpit, 14.5-inch MMI touch display, and optional 10.9-inch passenger screen, forming a seamless digital stage.
Active Privacy Mode allows passengers to stream content without distracting the driver. The optional AR head-up display projects key driving information onto the windshield for enhanced navigation and safety.
A "soft wrap" spans the cabin, creating a cohesive, comfortable space with premium materials. A digital wrap integrates controls and lighting, ensuring a streamlined, intuitive experience.
A smart panoramic glass roof with switchable transparency
The A6 Sportback e-tron features an advanced panoramic glass roof with smart liquid crystal technology. Using PDLC (polymer-dispersed liquid crystal), it switches from transparent to opaque at the touch of a button. When voltage is applied, the crystals align for transparency; without voltage, they create an opaque layer. Controlled via a roof module button, it offers four preset levels, acting as a "digital curtain" to minimize direct sunlight and enhance comfort.
Infotainment - integrating the digital world of customers
The A6 Sportback e-tron comes standard with Audi connect® services and an enhanced e-tron route planner, powered by Android Automotive OS. Three levels of connect services are available:
- connect CARE: Free safety and remote services, including roadside assistance and SOS emergency calls.
- connect NAV (3-year trial): Includes satellite imagery, 3D city views, real-time traffic, and Audi Voice Assistant.
- connect PLUS (6-month trial): Adds a Wi-Fi hotspot, online radio, and Audi App Store access for third-party apps.
The Audi assistant offers proactive suggestions, smart routines, and intelligent lists, with future updates expanding online content access. A digital key allows drivers to lock, unlock, and start the vehicle using a smartphone or smartwatch.
A Bang & Olufsen premium sound system with 20 speakers, including four headrest-integrated units, delivers immersive 3D surround sound.
Premium Plus and Prestige models feature a dynamic interaction light, a full-width LED strip that provides alerts, visualizes HVAC adjustments, and supports driver assistance with dynamic indicators.
Impressive range and charging performance
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron features efficient electric motors and a 100 kWh battery, delivering an EPA-estimated 392-mile range with the ultra package. The A6 quattro produces 456 hp, accelerating 0-60 mph in 4.3 seconds, while the S6 offers 543 hp and a 3.7-second sprint, with ranges of 377 and 324 miles, respectively.
With 800V fast charging at 270 kW, the battery charges 10-80% in 21 minutes. Plug & Charge enables seamless charging at Electrify America stations, while 9.6 kW AC home charging offers convenience.
An advanced regenerative braking system recovers up to 220 kW of energy, with two-stage recuperation adjustable via steering paddles. The “B” mode supports near single-pedal driving, optimizing efficiency and extending range.
Precise driving dynamics, high comfort
The Audi A6 Sportback e-tron features a finely tuned suspension, enhancing agility and driving dynamics. The directly tuned front axle contributes to precise handling, ensuring a responsive driving experience.
Optional adaptive air suspension with controlled damping balances comfort and sporty handling, adjusting ride height based on speed and road conditions. In efficiency mode, the system lowers the car by 20mm to improve aerodynamics and extend range. Adaptive air suspension is standard on Prestige trim A6 models, while Sport adaptive air suspension comes standard on all S6 Sportback e-tron models.
The S6 Sportback e-tron’s rear-biased all-wheel drive system delivers dynamic torque distribution for enhanced performance. Differently sized front and rear tires further improve stability and sportiness, optimizing the vehicle’s driving capabilities.
