MG has confirmed the all-new MGS5 EV will launch in the UK next month and in Europe in Q2. Built to raise the bar in the electric SUV segment, it combines the praised features of the MG4 EV with new technology and a spacious, premium interior.
Three versions will be offered: SE Standard Range (£28,495), SE Long Range (£30,995), and the flagship Trophy Long Range (£33,495). All models include MG’s 7-year/80,000-mile warranty, emphasizing exceptional value for EV buyers.
INSIDE THE NEW MGS5 EV: SPACIOUS, VERSATILE AND STYLISH
Built on MG’s Modular Scalable Platform with a slim 110mm battery, the MGS5 EV offers a rewarding drive and impressive space. It comfortably seats four adults with ample luggage room—453 litres standard, expanding to 1,441 litres with the rear seats folded. Features include a two-stage boot floor, smart electric tailgate, and thoughtful storage options.
Interior highlights include a 12.8” HD touchscreen with improved graphics and a 10.25” digital driver display. Physical buttons for key functions offer ease of use and reduce driver distraction. The cabin features soft-touch materials, a suede-style wireless charger, and dual-tone leather-style seats with MG detailing in the Trophy trim.
Comfort features include a six-way adjustable driver’s seat, heated front seats and steering wheel (Trophy), rear privacy glass, and lumbar support on the Trophy model—making the MGS5 EV practical, stylish, and comfortable.
NEW TECHNOLOGY TO ENTERTAIN, INFORM AND ENHANCE SAFETY
The MGS5 EV comes packed with smart, user-friendly tech. All models feature MG’s iSMART system, allowing drivers to control key functions remotely via smartphone—like locking/unlocking, pre-setting climate, locating the car, and checking range, battery, or tyre pressure.
A 12.8” HD touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto supports built-in apps like YouTube, Spotify, and TikTok. MG Pilot, the brand’s advanced driver assistance suite, includes features like collision avoidance, lane keeping, cruise control, emergency braking, and blind spot detection.
Exclusive to the MGS5 EV is MG Pilot Custom, allowing drivers to personalize and save their preferred safety and assistance settings.
Partnering with Continental, MG equips the MGS5 EV with high-performance brakes, featuring an advanced EV-specific brake booster and large discs—delivering a 62–0 mph braking distance of just 35.5 meters.
MGS5 EV: POWERFUL, DYNAMIC AND EFFICIENT PERFORMANCE
The MGS5 EV is MG’s second model to use the advanced Modular Scalable Platform (MSP), designed specifically for EVs to enhance range and handling. Rear-wheel drive, a 47:53 weight balance, and rear Five-Link suspension contribute to sharp dynamics and a smooth ride.
Powered by a compact 170kW electric motor delivering 350Nm of torque in under 50ms, the SE Long Range accelerates from 0–62mph in just 6.3 seconds. Drivers can select from five modes—Normal, Sport, Comfort, Snow, and Custom—to tailor their drive.
Efficiency is enhanced with low-resistance bearings and a regenerative braking system (KERS). Two battery options are available: a 49kWh pack (SE Standard Range) and a 64kWh pack (SE Long Range and Trophy Long Range), offering up to 298 miles of range. Adaptive pressure control helps extend battery life.
Fast charging minimizes downtime—10–80% in just 24 minutes for the 49kWh battery, and 28 minutes for the 64kWh version. Max DC charging is 120kW and 139kW, respectively.
MGS5 EV DESIGN: SHARP, CONTEMPORARY AND DETAILED
The MGS5 EV showcases MG’s modern, sharp EV styling, drawing cues from the dramatic Cyberster GT convertible. Despite its roomy interior, the SUV avoids a boxy look, with sleek lines and a sporty stance.
Up front, it features a bold Cyberster-inspired split grille, integrated high/low beam headlights, and chequered flag-style LED Daytime Running Lights—mirrored in the rear design. Silver side cladding and twin roof rails enhance its refined profile.
A technical light bar and rear spoiler add flair, while SE models ride on 17” alloys and the Trophy version upgrades to 18”. MG’s signature octagon badge is displayed on the bonnet. Six color options are offered, including the standout Piccadilly Blue.
