> Porsche Ibérica celebrates its anniversary with the Cuarenta Edition

12/07/2024 - To mark its 40th anniversary, the subsidiary Porsche Ibérica has unveiled the Cuarenta Edition. It features a unique combination of exterior and interior colours and finishes, as well as exclusive logos inspired by Iberian history and culture. The creation of this 911 edition brought together experts from the market Porsche Ibérica, Style Porsche and the Sonderwunsch Team in Zuffenhausen.

In 1984, Porsche transitioned from an importer to a subsidiary in Spain, initially named Porsche España, S.A. This milestone highlights the brand's strong bond with Iberian enthusiasts and marks a new chapter in its history. To commemorate four decades and honour its customers, Porsche is presenting an exclusive edition of the iconic 911. This limited edition, crafted with meticulous design and exclusivity, features carefully selected colours, materials, and finishes, making each car a work of art in motion, tailored for a select group of future owners.

INSPIRED BY THE IBERIAN CULTURE AND TRADITION
In addition to various anniversary activities planned throughout the year, Porsche Ibérica wanted to create a special version of the iconic 911 reminiscent of the 1980s founding phase. They turned to the Sonderwunsch programme for its next-level individualisation, attention to detail, and skilled craftsmanship. The result is the integration of unique design elements that go far beyond the existing 911 catalogue.

A team traveled to Porsche’s headquarters in Zuffenhausen to collaborate on the details for this market edition, ahead of the new 911 evolution launch. The base version chosen was the new Carrera GTS Coupé, the first model marketed by the Spanish subsidiary 40 years ago. The timeless sporty style and technical sophistication of the 911 GTS were refined with selected Sonderwunsch touches, creating a tailor-made concept for Spanish and Portuguese customers.

In this second phase of the 911 series, the Carrera GTS features the new T-Hybrid drive system. This system includes an electric motor integrated into the turbocharger, a lightweight high-voltage battery, and an electric motor coupled to the eight-speed PDK gearbox. The six-cylinder boxer engine now has a 3.6-litre displacement. With a system output of 398 kW (541 PS), it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds and reaches a top speed of 312 km/h (194 mph). Standard equipment includes rear-wheel steering and Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) with 10 millimetres lower ground clearance.

The Porsche Driver Experience control concept centers on the driver's axis for intuitive and faster operation. Key controls are positioned directly on or around the steering wheel. For the first time in a 911, there is a start button to the left of the steering wheel, and the instrument panel is fully digital.

EXTERIOR DESIGN
For the Cuarenta Edition, a bespoke exterior colour called Quercusverde has been created, inspired by the unique shade of holm oak leaves characteristic of Spain and Portugal's landscapes. Developed via the Paint to Sample Plus offer through Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur, Quercusverde allows for the creation of individual colours based on customer specifications.

The Quercus tree is also featured in the anniversary logo, which is hand-painted and placed on the rear lid grille of the car. Additional identifying elements include the "nueveonce/Cuarenta" ("911 40") logo on the B-pillar in Cremewhite, the Porsche and 911 logos at the rear in Silver, side window trims in Aluminium, fender flares in Black Satin stone guard film, and rear lights and strip in Red.

The stone guard film, a nod to the popular 911 option in the 80s, is specially designed to mimic the protective film used back then and is placed on each Cuarenta Edition in Black Satin.

The wheels are RS Spyder Design in Black Satin with a rim painted in Brilliant Silver and wheel centre caps in Black Satin with a monochrome Porsche crest, paying homage to the colour combination found on 911 wheels in the 1980s.

INTERIOR CONCEPT
The interior of the Cuarenta Edition is designed in a two-tone combination of Truffle Brown and Cohiba Brown leather. The darker brown shade is used on the instrument panel and lower surfaces, while the lighter shade is applied to the trim surfaces. These brown tones pay homage to the artisanal work of guarnicioneros, the craftsmen in saddlery.

A standout feature is the Tartan textile on the seat center inlays, featuring a checkered pattern in Truffle Brown, Cohiba Brown, Crayon, and a nuance of Quercusverde. Elegant cross-stitching in Crayon and Truffle Brown is applied along the dashboard trim and upper door panel, highlighting the luxurious interior. Adaptive Sports seats Plus (18-way) and rear seats are upholstered in Cohiba Brown leather with seat centers in the new Tartan textile, complemented by elegant piping in Crayon. The front seats also feature Cuarenta embossing on the headrests.

Subtle details include high-quality Cuarenta embossing on the passenger trim in Truffle Brown leather and “Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur” embossed on the storage lid in the center console. Door sill guards in Aluminium Darksilver have customized Cuarenta lettering illuminated in Cremewhite. Individualized LED door courtesy lights display the special “Quercus tree logo” on the ground. The driver's key, painted in Quercusverde with Cuarenta lettering in Silver, comes in a special two-tone Truffle Brown and Cohiba Brown leather key pouch that also features an embossing of the Quercus tree logo.

Additionally, customers will receive a custom-made indoor car cover for the Cuarenta Edition, executed in Quercusverde. It features a Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur logo on the front, Cuarenta Edition lettering on the sides in Cremewhite, and a badge on the rear.
