The M Hybrid system provides a maximum output of 717 hp and 738 lb-ft of torque. Combining a high-revving V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology, an electric motor, an 8-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, and the M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, the new BMW M5 offers a fresh performance experience.

The new BMW M5 marks another step in BMW M's evolution towards electrification. Its hybrid drive system is closely related to that of the BMW M Hybrid V8 endurance racing car. The intelligently controlled interaction between the engine and electric motor, along with the finely tuned power transfer and chassis technology, showcases how Motorsport expertise enhances the driving experience.

The new BMW M5 will debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in England in July 2024, with production starting at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing the same month. Its worldwide market launch will begin in November 2024.

The S68B44T0 V8 engine in the BMW M5 is paired with BMW's fifth-generation eDrive technology, including a high-voltage battery and power electronics. The electric motor, integrated into the 8-speed M Steptronic transmission, delivers instant response typical of electric motors. It adds up to 194 hp and 207 lb-ft of torque to the system, with enhanced torque at the transmission input through patented pre-gearing, enabling powerful acceleration with a compact, lightweight design.

The new BMW M5 offers the BMW Digital Key Plus for Apple iPhone, Apple Watch, and compatible Android smartphones. This technology allows users to lock and unlock the car using ultra-wideband radio, eliminating the need for a traditional key. With security-enhanced features, the car can unlock as the user approaches, without needing to remove the smartphone from their pocket.

Standard in the M5 is a welcome scenario featuring synchronized activation of exterior and interior lights. It includes an M-specific Welcome Light Carpet projected onto the ground from the vehicle sill as the driver approaches. Inside, an M-specific Welcome Animation displays signature M colors with a chaser light effect. Upon departure, the interior lighting gradually dims as part of the Goodbye Animation.
