15-08-2024. BMW M GmbH is expanding its high-performance segment while advancing electrification with the new BMW M5 Touring. This model combines exceptional dynamics with versatile interior space, powered by an M HYBRID system that pairs a high-revving V8 engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 727 hp and 1,000 Nm of torque.

The new BMW M5 Touring offers a versatile driving experience, combining everyday usability and long-distance capability with thrilling performance. It can operate on electric power alone in urban areas, with power delivered through an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission, M xDrive all-wheel-drive system, Active M Differential, and M-specific chassis, all precisely tuned to the M HYBRID drive. The M5 Touring accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds, delivering exceptional elasticity and precision in dynamic driving situations.

The new BMW M5 Touring will debut at Monterey Car Week in California in mid-August 2024, with a market launch in November 2024 following production at BMW Group Plant Dingolfing. Its key markets include Germany, the USA, Great Britain, Canada, and Switzerland.

EXTERIOR DESIGN: ATHLETIC FORMS, TYPICAL TOURING PROPORTIONS.
The new BMW M5 Touring features a fresh M design with a racing-inspired look, characterized by body-colored surfaces, a black roof, flared wheel arches, muscular shoulders, and a long roofline. The front end has large air intakes and a newly designed BMW M kidney grille with BMW Iconic Glow lighting, while the rear showcases slim lights, vertical reflectors, and a split diffuser with dual exhaust tailpipes.

The M HYBRID drive system pairs a 4.4-liter V8 engine with a powerful electric motor in the eight-speed M Steptronic transmission. The V8 engine produces 585 hp and 750 Nm of torque, while the electric motor adds 197 hp and boosts torque to 450 Nm with pre-gearing technology. The car can reach 250 km/h (155 mph), or 305 km/h (189 mph) with the optional M Driver’s Package. It also offers an electric driving mode with a range of 61-67 km (38-42 miles) at speeds up to 140 km/h (87 mph), thanks to an 18.6 kWh high-voltage battery.

The M xDrive all-wheel-drive system and Active M Differential are finely tuned to the M HYBRID drive, allowing drivers to select from 4WD, 4WD Sport, and 2WD modes for various driving experiences. The sports exhaust system and BMW IconicSounds Electric provide a rich and engaging sound.

M-SPECIFIC CHASSIS TECHNOLOGY DELIVERS COMPELLING DYNAMICS.
The new BMW M5 Touring sets a high bar in its segment with exceptional dynamic performance, bolstered by improved body rigidity and advanced chassis technology. Enhanced stiffness comes from tower-to-bulkhead plates, front-end struts, and model-specific rear underfloor bracing. Its sophisticated chassis includes a double-wishbone front axle, five-link rear axle, and adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers and Integral Active Steering.

M-specific tuning allows for customizable settings, balancing dynamic performance with ride comfort. Traction, agility, and stability are improved by near-actuator wheel slip limitation and integrated transverse dynamics management.

Standard M Compound brakes, with an optional M Carbon ceramic upgrade, ensure strong stopping power. The M light-alloy wheels (20-inch front, 21-inch rear) are fitted with high-performance tires, rounding out the dynamic features.

WIDE RANGE OF ASSISTANCE SYSTEMS FOR AUTOMATED DRIVING AND PARKING.
The new BMW M5 Touring comes equipped with a comprehensive suite of driver assistance systems. Standard features include front collision warning, Lane Departure Warning with steering assistance, Evasion Assistant, Attentiveness Assistant, and Speed Limit Info.

Optional upgrades include the Driving Assistant Professional, which adds Steering and Lane Control Assistant, Active Cruise Control, automatic Speed Limit Assist, traffic light detection, and Active Navigation. The Parking Assistant Professional, also available as an option, enables parking and maneuvering via smartphone from outside the vehicle.

CONFIGURABLE DRIVING EXPERIENCE FOR EVERYDAY DRIVING AND TRACK SESSIONS.
The M-specific control panel in the new BMW M5 Touring offers extensive customization for the driving experience. The Setup button allows quick adjustments to the drive system, chassis, steering, brakes, M xDrive, and brake energy recuperation. M buttons on the steering wheel provide fast access to two pre-set configurations.

M Dynamic Mode, which adjusts stability control, can be activated with a button, and DSC can be fully switched off. The M Mode button customizes displays and driver assistance systems, with SPORT mode limiting these to essentials for sporty driving. If M Drive Professional is included, TRACK mode is also available, along with features like M Laptimer and Boost Control for dynamic acceleration.

The M HYBRID button lets drivers choose the drive system mode: Hybrid for managing engine and motor interplay, Electric for all-electric driving, and eControl for brake energy recuperation or maintaining battery charge. M Drive Professional also includes Dynamic and Dynamic Plus modes for optimizing performance on roads or tracks.

PROGRESSIVE SPORTS-CAR COCKPIT WITH M-SPECIFIC DISPLAYS.
The cockpit of the new BMW M5 Touring has a racing-car feel with an M leather steering wheel, M multifunction seats, M-specific displays on the BMW Curved Display, and a standard Head-Up Display. It includes premium features like Merino leather trim, four-zone climate control, M-specific interior lighting, and a Bowers & Wilkins sound system. Optional upgrades include steering wheel heating, seat ventilation, and a panoramic sunroof. BMW Individual Metallic Merino leather trim will be available from spring 2025.

The load capacity ranges from 500 to 1,630 liters, with easy loading thanks to Comfort Access and automatic tailgate operation. The optional trailer coupling supports up to 2,000 kg.

The latest BMW iDrive, based on Operating System 8.5, is designed for touchscreen and voice control. It includes BMW Live Cockpit Professional with navigation and Augmented View. A 5G antenna system ensures connectivity for digital services and seamless smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™.
