The new BMW M2 CS (combined fuel consumption: 10.0 l/100 km; CO₂ emissions: 226 g/km, WLTP) elevates performance in the compact high-performance segment. With greater agility, power, and dynamic styling, this exclusive model continues BMW M’s legacy, which began with the BMW 2002 turbo. It debuted on May 23 at the Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este.
Designed for both track and everyday driving, the M2 CS shares its chassis with the M2 Racing and is built in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. Like previous BMW M special editions, it will be produced in limited numbers, with the U.S., Germany, and China as key markets. Sales begin in late summer 2025, priced at €115,000 in Germany.
Based on the second-gen M2, the M2 CS features a 390 kW/530 hp six-cylinder engine—50 hp more than the standard M2—matching the output of the M3 and M4 Competition models. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a standard eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic.
NOTICEABLE WEIGHT REDUCTION THANKS TO INTELLIGENT LIGHTWEIGHT DESIGN
BMW M GmbH has reduced the weight of the special edition by roughly 30 kilograms compared to the standard M2. This has been achieved through modifications including judicious use of lightweight design techniques. For example, the BMW M2 CS features a multitude of exterior and interior components made from carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP). And it will be fitted as standard with forged M light-alloy wheels. As a result, the CS will be the lightest BMW M2 so far in the current generation.
UNGRADED SIX-CYLINDER IN-LINE ENGINE WITH SIGNIFICANT INCREASE IN POWER OUTPUT AND TORQUE
The BMW M2 CS features an enhanced version of the 3.0-litre inline-six engine from the standard M2, delivering sharper performance and a more intense driving experience. Maximum torque increases by 50 Nm to 650 Nm, available between 2,650 and 5,730 rpm. Peak output is 390 kW/530 hp at 6,250 rpm, with a redline of 7,200 rpm. Optimized accelerator response across all drive modes further amplifies its dynamic character.
RACING EXPERTISE DELIVERS INSPIRING PERFORMANCE
With its increased peak output, the new BMW M2 CS reinforces its position at the top of the compact high-performance segment. The enhanced engine management showcases the potential of the M-developed inline-six, also used in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO. Featuring M TwinPower Turbo tech with dual mono-scroll turbochargers, a low-temp intercooler, and high-precision fuel injection, the engine combines racing-grade components like a rigid closed-deck crankcase, forged crankshaft, and 3D-printed cylinder head core.
Its advanced cooling and oil systems ensure optimal performance under extreme conditions. Power is delivered via an eight-speed M Steptronic transmission with Drivelogic, offering three shift settings and manual control via a selector lever or steering wheel paddles.
BMW M2 CS BREAKS THE FOUR-SECOND BARRIER
The BMW M2 CS features stiffer engine mounts for a more rigid connection to the chassis, improving power transfer and response. With increased output and reduced weight, it accelerates from 0–100 km/h in 3.8 seconds (or 3.5 seconds with 1-foot rollout), and hits 200 km/h in 11.7 seconds (11.4 with rollout). Mid-range acceleration from 80–120 km/h takes just 3.4 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 302 km/h, aided by the standard M Driver’s Package.
A specially tuned M exhaust system with active flaps and quad matte black tips delivers a powerful sound. For more, an optional M Performance titanium and carbon silencer system is available, offering a motorsport-inspired tone. Active Sound Design enhances the interior acoustics, especially in SPORT and SPORT PLUS modes.
CHASSIS AND BRAKES OPTIMISED FOR INCREASED PERFORMANCE
The BMW M2 CS features a chassis and braking system precisely tuned to its enhanced performance and weight balance. Lowered by 8 mm, it includes custom springs, dampers, and control systems for sharper handling, even under extreme conditions. DSC and M Dynamic Mode are optimized for track use. The adaptive M chassis, M Servotronic steering, M Sport differential, and integrated braking system all receive model-specific tuning.
Standard equipment includes red M Compound brakes, with optional M Carbon ceramic brakes. Exclusive forged M light-alloy wheels (19" front, 20" rear) in matte Gold Bronze come fitted with track tyres, while ultra-track or standard sport tyres are available as no-cost options.
EXTERIOR FEATURES MANY CARBON COMPONENTS AND EXCLUSIVE DETAILS
The bold exterior of the BMW M2 CS features numerous carbon-fibre-reinforced plastic (CFRP) elements, including the standard M Carbon roof, CS-specific rear diffuser, and lightweight boot lid with an integrated ducktail. Additional highlights include a black front splitter, exclusive black M kidney grille, and M exterior mirrors. The rear sports a red-outlined “M2 CS” logo.
Four exterior colours are offered: Sapphire Black, Velvet Blue (BMW Individual), M Brooklyn Grey, and M Portimao Blue. Standard features also include Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Selective Beam and M Shadowline lights with dark accents.
CARBON AND RACING FLAIR CONTINUE INSIDE
The BMW M2 CS interior blends exclusive design with sporty, lightweight materials like CFRP, used for the center console. Heated M Carbon bucket seats in Merino leather offer electric adjustments, removable headrests, and harness compatibility for track use.
The M Alcantara steering wheel features a flat-bottom design, gearshift paddles, red 12 o’clock marker, and M buttons for custom drive modes. M Carbon Fibre trim decorates the dash and console, while red “CS” logos, M seatbelts, and illuminated M2 CS door sills add unique touches. Ambient lighting, customizable in color, reveals a carbon pattern when off. The M Anthracite headliner completes the sporty feel.
BMW OPERATION SYSTEM 8.5, DIGITAL CONTROL FOR THE CLIMATE FUNCTIONS
The BMW M2 CS comes well-equipped with two-zone climate control, Comfort Access, a Harman Kardon sound system, and BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Maps. It includes a Head-Up Display and Augmented View, along with Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration.
The digital cockpit features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 14.9-inch control display running BMW Operating System 8.5. M-specific displays enhance the sporty feel, while climate functions, heated seats, and the optional heated steering wheel can be controlled via touchscreen or voice command through the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant.
M-SPECIFIC OPERATION CONCEPT ENABLES DIRECT ACCESS FOR AN EXTENSIVE RANGE OF FUNCTIONS
The BMW M2 CS features the same advanced setup system as the standard M2, centered around the Setup button for quick access to engine, suspension, steering, brakes, and traction control settings. M Drive Professional includes TRACK mode, 10-stage M Traction Control, M Drift Analyser, and M Laptimer for tailored performance and lap tracking.
Standard driver-assistance features include front collision warning, cruise control with brake function, Speed Limit Info, Lane Departure Warning, and Parking Assistant with Reversing Assistant. Optional upgrades include Active Cruise Control with Stop\&Go and the Driving Assistant package.
