Affalterbach/Abu Dhabi, December 08, 2024 - As the first model in the strictly limited Mercedes‑Benz Mythos series, the Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed (combined energy consumption: 13.7 l/100 km | combined CO₂ emissions: 312 g/km | CO₂ class: G)[1] is celebrating its world premiere at the Formula 1™ Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. The uncompromising realisation of a fully open, two-seater performance car with no roof or windscreen is a tribute to racing and offers an unforgettable driving experience.

The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed celebrates Mercedes-Benz’s tradition in motorsport with its thrilling racing car design, innovative materials and modern technology. The exclusive small series is strictly limited to 250 models.

SPORTS CAR DESIGN INSPIRED BY MERCEDES-AMG ONE HYPERCAR
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed boasts a sleek design with a low silhouette, long bonnet, and shark-nose front. Its wide air intake, AMG lettering, and chrome Mercedes star evoke the AMG ONE. Aerodynamic features include a sculpted bonnet, transparent deflectors to reduce turbulence, and visible carbon fibre elements contrasting with its rounded upper shapes. The boot lid and rear diffuser are tailored for optimal airflow without a roof.

The 21-inch forged aluminium wheels feature carbon fibre covers, fully closed at the rear for reduced resistance and open at the front for brake cooling. The tyres measure 275/35 R 21 at the front and 305/30 R 21 at the rear. Side sill trim with aero flics and muscular rear shoulders seamlessly integrate into the rear apron and boot lid for a dynamic finish.

HALO SYSTEM IN PLACE OF A-PILLAR
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed features a HALO safety system, inspired by Formula 1™ and designed to protect passengers in case of accidents. The robust tubular steel bracket integrates into the car’s shell structure, bifurcating behind the occupants for optimal aerodynamics. Concealed roll bars under aerodynamic scoops add further protection, while LED strips beneath the HALO provide advanced ambient lighting.

Additionally, the PureSpeed includes aerodynamically optimised helmets matching the car's color. Equipped with an intercom system, they ensure clear communication at high speeds and allow smartphone pairing for calls or music playback via built-in speakers.

A TRIBUTE TO LEGENDARY MERCEDES MODELS
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed pays homage to motorsport with scoops behind the seats bearing the AMG emblem, inspired by iconic racers like the 300 SLR driven to victory at the 1955 Mille Miglia. The car's exclusive Silver Arrow finish in mystic silver magno enhances its racing legacy.

An optional motorsport styling package offers finishes such as Le Mans red and graphite grey with a black AMG pattern. The package commemorates Mercedes' 1924 Targa Florio win with a red finish, historically used to avoid interference from Italian fans. It includes a '10' decal on the front wing, honoring the victorious Mercedes 2-litre car driven by Christian Werner.

TWO-TONE COLOUR AND EQUIPMENT CONCEPT
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed interior features a classic two-tone crystal white/black design with AMG Performance seats offering optimal support and exclusive aesthetics, inspired by airflow around the car. The seats are enhanced with flowing leather lines, carbon fibre accents, and deep-pile AMG floor mats matching the seats' colour and stitching. The leather-trimmed door sill and AMG Performance steering wheel further continue the two-tone theme.

A standout feature is the custom-made analogue clock by IWC Schaffhausen, housed in a drop-shaped glossy black base with visible carbon fibre, illuminated for better visibility. The Burmester High-End 3D Surround Sound System with 15 speakers and 1,170 watts delivers an immersive audio experience. A "1 out of 250" badge marks the limited edition of the Mythos series.

To protect the car, a standard weather cover is provided, and each customer also receives a custom-made AMG indoor car cover to protect from dust and scratches.

BODY SHELL: AMG SPORTS CAR ARCHITECTURE WITH COMPOSITE ALUMINIUM STRUCTURE
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is built on a sports car architecture featuring an aluminium space frame with a self-supporting structure for maximum rigidity, ensuring precise driving dynamics and sporty proportions. The intelligent material mix, including aluminium, magnesium, fibre composites, and steel, reduces weight. Carbon fibre components are used for the aero elements at the front and rear aprons, side sills, and trim behind the seats.

SOPHISTICATED AERODYNAMICS FOR UNADULTERATED FUN AT THE WHEEL
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed features active aerodynamic elements, including an extendible rear spoiler integrated into the boot lid. It adjusts based on driving conditions, optimizing stability or reducing drag by adopting five different angles at speeds above 80 km/h.

An additional carbon fibre element in the underbody reacts to AMG driving modes, lowering by 40 mm at high speeds to create the Venturi effect, enhancing road grip and reducing lift on the front axle. This improves steering precision and lane stability. The underbody also includes aerodynamic add-ons to improve downforce, while the front axle lift system raises the car to navigate bumps and kerbs.

POWERFUL AND SONOROUS: AMG 4.0-LITRE V8 BITURBO ENGINE
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine delivering 430 kW (585 PS) and 800 Nm of torque, ensuring dynamic performance. Its open design enhances the sensation of speed, even at lower speeds. The car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 315 km/h. The iconic AMG V8 engine sound is also more intense in the PureSpeed, adding to the driving experience.

TRANSMISSION WITH WET STARTING CLUTCH
The AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 9G transmission offers a thrilling shifting experience with ultra-short shift times. It features a wet starting clutch instead of a torque converter, reducing weight and optimizing response to acceleration, particularly during sprints and load changes.

GREATER TRACTION AND DRIVING STABILITY: FULLY VARIABLE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE AMG PERFORMANCE 4MATIC+
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed features the AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, which offers fully variable torque distribution between the front and rear axles. This ensures optimal traction, high driving stability, and safety in all conditions.

SUSPENSION AND BRAKES: SEMI-ACTIVE ROLL STABILISATION AND OPTIMAL DECELERATION
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed features the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with semi-active hydraulic roll stabilization, ensuring optimal road contact. This system uses active hydraulic elements to counteract rolling movements instantly, offering precise handling, dynamic performance, and enhanced comfort, especially over bumps. The wide-track rear axle boosts agility on winding roads.

The car also includes the AMG high-performance ceramic composite braking system, delivering excellent deceleration, short braking distances, and precise control. It features 6-piston fixed brake calipers at the front and 1-piston floating calipers at the rear, both in black with white AMG logos.

ACTIVE REAR-AXLE STEERING: COMBINING AGILITY AND STABILITY
The Mercedes-AMG PureSpeed features active rear-axle steering, where the rear wheels turn in the opposite direction to the front wheels below 100 km/h and in the same direction above 100 km/h. This system enhances both agility and stability, improving vehicle control at the limit and reducing steering effort with a more direct front steering ratio.
