1/3/2025 - Dodge recently invited a group of journalists to Radford Racing School in Chandler, Arizona, to experience the all-new, all-electric 2024 Charger Daytona lineup. Track action was reserved for the higher performance Scat Pack models, but we got to experience the newest Dodge Charger Daytona R/T on the roads around the track facility, showcasing the excellent combination of performance and daily driving comforts.
The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T is the ideal choice for those seeking an electric vehicle that stands out from typical EVs, combining over 300 miles of range with muscle car aesthetics, a dynamic driving experience, and a uniquely engaging interior.
PREPARING FOR THE DRIVE
The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T offers a cockpit-like interior with everything within easy reach, making it comfortable for long drives. The bucket seats, equipped with deep bolsters, provide excellent support for performance driving while remaining spacious enough for larger occupants. Leather seating surfaces elevate the upscale feel.
The design of the infotainment screen, center console, and steering wheel gives the cabin a futuristic, sporty vibe. Despite its performance focus, the interior is welcoming and comfortable, even for taller drivers. The rear seats offer ample legroom for adults.
When starting the car, the screen lights up with an animation featuring the new Dodge Fratzog logo, complemented by a distinctive exhaust note. The Fratzonic chambered exhaust roars to life, drawing attention, especially in Sport mode with a few revs.
TAKING TO THE STREETS
The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T comes standard with the Direct Connection Stage 1 upgrade, delivering 496 horsepower and 404 lb-ft of torque. It offers an impressive 308-mile range on a single charge, making it ideal for long-distance driving. During a test drive in Arizona, the vehicle’s handling, braking, and acceleration were experienced, although the full range was not tested.
The Fratzonic exhaust note is subtle in Auto mode, becoming more noticeable in Sport mode. Sport mode also enhances throttle response and steering feel, making the driving experience more engaging. The Charger Daytona R/T is equipped with the Dodge PowerShot system, which boosts output to 456 horsepower for 15-second bursts, providing a thrilling launch performance.
Thanks to its electric drivetrain and all-wheel-drive system, the Charger Daytona R/T accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in the high-4-second range, outperforming many V8 muscle cars. Its instant torque offers strong midrange acceleration, and as the vehicle picks up speed, the exhaust note changes in intensity, becoming more pronounced in Sport mode.
HANDLING AND RIDE QUALITY
The 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T impresses with its handling, especially on twisty mountain roads. The sport-tuned suspension minimizes body roll, ensuring maximum grip during tight turns, even when pushing the tires to their limits. The regenerative brakes provide quick deceleration, with adjustable settings that allow for a one-pedal driving experience, ideal for both sporty driving and convenience during everyday commutes.
In addition to its agile handling, the Charger Daytona R/T offers a surprisingly smooth and quiet ride. At highway speeds with the windows closed, there’s almost no wind noise, and only the most severe bumps penetrate the cabin.
With a range of over 300 miles on a single charge, the 2024 Dodge Charger Daytona R/T combines long-range capability with impressive performance. It offers excellent acceleration, handling, and a comfortable, quiet driving experience, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a more engaging electric vehicle.
