Already, 2005 is almost coming to an end. Along side Christmas and the New Year, comes the annual cycle of business forecasts, budget cuts and corporate reforms. It might not make a lot of sense for most, but it is another good reason for Lotuses to play out side.
The plan was to savour the winding roads up to Bukit Tinggi. And so, a small group of Lotus owners rendezvous their Elise, Exige and Caterhams 7.30a.m. at Sri Hartamas, to bid farewell to the last day of the weekend.
The longer route to Bukit Tinggi takes the Lotuses through Ulu Yam and Genting Highlands; each of which are equally ideal roads for the light, pointy and agile automobiles. The journey encompasses various scapes from the crawling city traffics to Sunday markets, long sweepers along the Semenyih Dam and to the twisting misty Highlands of Genting.
By the time the Lotuses arrive at the foot of Bukit Tinggi, the remaining half fuel reading justifies how throttle happy the Lotus pilots and their cars are; and both are very happy; indeed. Mind the light weight vs fuel saving concept; due to the feather weight of the cars, the engines rev up much faster thus spending much time at high revs. The return tho, is much enjoyment as seen on the faces of the Lotus pilots.
At the top, a different type of satisfaction is achieved. The steady supply of highland cool breeze coupled with a palette enriching, sense tingling 'nasi lemak' and 'teh tarik' creates a Lotus grin from east to west. After the fill and some socializing, the group proceeded downhill and took the quickest route back home.
Through out the whole journey, the convoy maintained proper road ethics and displayed professional and sensible driving skills. As often as the Lotus drives are held, we hope to be seeing the participation numbers continue to increase.
