LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 3, 2025) – For 2026, the Toyota sports car lineup is getting brighter with the GR86 Yuzu Edition. This vibrant exterior color is a nod to a memorable special edition of GR86’s predecessor, the Scion FR-S Release Series 1.0.

The GR86 Yuzu Edition, based on the Premium grade, features 18-inch matte-black wheels, black and yellow interior accents, and Ultrasuede® sport seats with yellow stitching.

It includes Brembo® Brakes for enhanced stopping power and SACHS Dampers for added stability. Optional accessories like a cat-back exhaust and body kit allow further customization.

For 2026, the GR86 will come in three trims: GR86, Premium, and Yuzu Edition, all offering manual or automatic transmissions and powered by a 2.4-liter 4-cylinder boxer engine with 228 hp and 184 lb.-ft of torque.

Arriving in Fall 2025, only 860 Yuzu Editions will be available in North America. Pricing and full specs will be announced later this year.

PURE DRIVING EXPERIENCE ACROSS ALL GRADES
Every GR vehicle is built with meticulous attention to detail and a distinct driving feel. The GR86 emphasizes performance and balance, offering nimble handling and a fun, engaging ride.

For 2026, updates from last year carry over, including revised throttle mapping for easier blipping and improved torque control for smoother response and control at all speeds.

The Performance Package—standard on the Yuzu Edition and optional on GR86 and Premium—adds Brembo® Brakes and SACHS Dampers. These dampers use nitrogen and oil to absorb vibrations, enhance stability, and maintain comfort. Red Brembo calipers pair with large front and rear rotors for strong braking performance.

The GR86’s chassis, made from high-strength steel, aluminum, and structural adhesive, is designed for agility and control. Reinforcements at the front and rear improve rigidity and steering response, creating a cohesive and confident driving experience.

LIGHT AND FUN-TO-DRIVE
All GR86 models blend modern tech and convenience with a lightweight sports car design. Weighing just 2,811 lbs (manual) and 2,851 lbs (automatic), the GR86 stays light with aluminum body panels and weight-saving features like lighter seats and structural adhesives.

The 2.4-liter FA-24 engine delivers 228 hp and 184 lb.-ft. of torque, with peak torque at 3,700 RPM. It hits 0–60 mph in 6.1 seconds (manual) and 6.6 seconds (automatic), and includes a Torsen® limited-slip differential for improved cornering grip.

Purists will appreciate the 6-speed manual with Track mode and switchable Vehicle Stability Control. The automatic model features paddle shifters, extra clutch discs, and three drive modes: Normal, Sport, and Snow.

Inside, a low-slung cockpit features a digital instrument panel, push-button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, and an 8-inch touchscreen with a six-speaker audio system (eight speakers on Yuzu and Premium). Premium models include Ultrasuede® and leather seats with heating and added adjustability, while the base model features GR-embossed sport fabric seats.

GR86 SAFETY, CONVENIENCE & CONNECTED SERVICES
All GR86 models come standard with Toyota’s Active Safety Suite. Automatic models include features like Pre-Collision Braking, Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Sonar, and more. Manual models offer a slightly modified suite with key systems like Pre-Collision Braking and Adaptive Cruise Control. An anti-theft system is also standard.

The Star Safety System™—standard on all grades—includes VSC, TRAC, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Smart Stop Technology®, Hill Start Assist, and Track Mode. All models also include LATCH anchors, a Tire Pressure Monitor System, and seven airbags.

GR86 Connected Services trials include one year of Safety Connect, Service Connect, and Remote Connect. These services allow owners to monitor and control their vehicle remotely via the Toyota app. Subscription required after trial; features depend on 4G network availability.

MOTORSPORTS INSPIRED
To earn the GR badge, each GR sports car undergoes rigorous track testing approved by Akio Toyoda (Morizo) and the Toyota GAZOO Racing team. Partnering with ROOKIE Racing, Toyota competes in events like Japan’s Super Taikyu to refine performance through motorsport.

In 2023, Toyota GAZOO Racing North America launched the GR Cup, a single-make racing series featuring race-modified GR86s. Created for enthusiasts, it offers an accessible entry point into professional racing.

To support driving passion, Toyota includes a complimentary 1-year NASA membership with every GR86. This includes one free High Performance Driving Event and discounts on NASA-sanctioned events, giving owners a chance to experience track driving firsthand.

WARRANTY & TOYOTACARE
The GR86 comes with Toyota’s 36-month/36,000-mile basic warranty, plus a 60-month/60,000-mile powertrain warranty and a corrosion warranty with no mileage limit. ToyotaCare also provides 2 years/25,000 miles of factory-scheduled maintenance and 2 years of 24-hour roadside assistance with unlimited mileage at no extra cost.
