15 January 2025, Gaydon, Warwickshire: Aston Martin unveils the Vantage Roadster, a convertible counterpart to the acclaimed Vantage Coupe. Building on the 2024 Vantage’s sector-defining luxury and performance, the Roadster enhances the driving experience with open-air thrills.
Powered by a 4.0L V8 twin-turbo engine delivering 665PS/800Nm, it offers the same dynamic performance and striking design as the Coupe, now with the added excitement of top-down driving. The Vantage Roadster combines elegance, freedom, and cutting-edge engineering for an uncompromised convertible experience.
With minimal weight gain and the fastest fully automatic roof in its class, the Roadster maintains the Vantage's exceptional handling and style, continuing Aston Martin’s tradition of open-top excellence since the DB2 in 1950.
This launch also marks the 20th anniversary of the 2005 V8 Vantage, the first modern Gaydon-built Aston Martin to establish Vantage as a distinct model, with its own Roadster version following shortly after.
ENGINEERING
The Vantage Roadster retains the dynamic attributes of the Coupe by being developed in parallel, ensuring no compromises to performance, handling, or weight. Its 4.0-litre V8 twin-turbo engine produces 665PS and 800Nm of torque, delivering 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds and a top speed of 202mph, with an eight-speed paddle-shift transmission and limited-slip differential.
The lightweight aluminum structure, composite body panels, and 49:51 weight distribution form a solid foundation for its race-inspired suspension, featuring double wishbones, adaptive dampers, and bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 tires for exceptional grip and precision. Carbon ceramic brakes with 410mm front discs ensure rapid, repeated deceleration.
The advanced ESP system and eight-mode traction control optimize performance for varying conditions, from wet roads to track use. Structural enhancements, including weight-optimized shear panels, maintain rigidity, while the innovative ‘Z-fold’ roof design is faster, lighter, and deploys in 6.8 seconds at speeds up to 31mph. Despite being lightweight, it offers excellent cabin refinement with eight layers of insulation.
With only a 60kg weight increase, the Roadster achieves class-leading performance. The aluminum Roll-Over Protection System (ROPS) balances strength and weight, while recalibrated rear dampers and gearbox mountings preserve the Vantage’s legendary handling.
DESIGN
The Vantage Roadster perfectly retains the visceral impact and beauty of the Vantage Coupe, showcasing stunning lines whether the roof is up or down. Its sleek design features a dramatically angled windscreen, high waistline, and seamless roof stowage behind the seats, avoiding bulky tonneau covers. The widened stance, signature Aston Martin grille, and elegant rear spoiler enhance its athletic profile, while three new paint colors and customizable roof options add further personalization.
Marek Reichman, Aston Martin Chief Creative Officer, describes the Vantage Roadster as a "sculptural masterpiece," combining beauty, performance, and a sensory auditory experience amplified with the roof down.
Customization options through the "Q by Aston Martin" service enable bespoke details or entirely unique components. The Roadster also introduces Aston Martin’s next-generation infotainment system, first seen in the DB12. This system integrates a 10.25" touchscreen, physical controls for essential functions, and an optional Bowers & Wilkins sound system for an immersive audio experience.
Deliveries begin Q2 2025, joining the Coupe, DB12, DBX707, and Valhalla supercar in Aston Martin’s most comprehensive lineup to date.
