Enter the Cayman S, Porsches latest rational extremist'. Based on the 987 Boxster, this hardtop, mid engine, 300bhp flat six fuses many of Porsche’s good traits in a small package.

The launching of Porsches newest gem took place in Shook! Kuala Lumpur on the 21st January 2006. In front many Porsche owners and Soon-to-Be's, Auto Eurokars unveiled 2 units in front of hundreds of eager eyes.

As with every Porsche line up, it did not disappoint. In fact, the Cayman S looks many folds more impressive in metal than in pictures or magazines. The front of the car carries the bulk of the Boxster DNA but follow the contour to the rear, it takes on a life of its own.

Sweeping lines and in-take gills meet at the rear whereby a blend of contour and athletic muscle fuse. Well balanced form and a 924/944 inspired third door or boot lid finishes off the package like cherry on ice cream. Functional and appealing.

As the crowd continues to awe at this wonder, on the other side of the hall, dinner is served. A blend of Japanese, English and local fairs are interpreted by Shook! and it too was a hit amidst flowing wines and cigars.

The night carried on with plenty of talk and laughs with live bands, martial arts and lucky draws on the fringe. A lucky few was given the opportune moment to experience flying laps in the Cayman S on the Sepang F1 Circuit piloted by Dato' Mokhzani Mahatir, Chairman of Auto Eurokars who is also a seasoned circuit racer.

The function ends about mid-night as eager customers get to test drive and put their money down for the Cayman S the following day at the Porsche Center, Glenmarie.
