As always it was the perfect morning to stay in bed but never the less, 55 strong Porsche automobiles, their enthusiastic owners and supportive families rose to the occasion. Organized by Porsche Club Malaysia and supported by Porsche Club Singapore, cars attended slick and shiny.
Unique to Porsche track days, this session does not require you to beat the best lap record or shed silica all around the prestigious Sepang F1 Circuit. The objective this time is far much simpler: To help 40 Orphans experience the Sepang F1 Circuit in a Porsche - A simple but brilliant plan.
Though Porsche Club is no stranger to causes for charity, this time the response was truly inspirational. There were more cars to orphan ratio and the latter quickly became a commodity for the drivers to hit the track. Amidst the bustling of the crowd, rumbling of the engines and screeching of tyres, the pits were filled with a calm sense of closure. It was like a big family outing, with lots of laughter and smile.
The parade of Porsches hit the track at a controlled pace while their passengers gazed out the window in awe. Eyes open wide, as they trace the racing lines, feel the G’s of turn 5-6 and hear engines grunt from vicinity Porsches. Some though prefer the interior view of the cabin with tight grasps on the seatbelts.
In the end it was good fun for all as everyone was lively as ever. An informal cheque hand over was presented to the Home representatives followed by happy meals for everyone. To date the Porsche Club has raised over RM14,000.00 to this cause and will continue to do so.
We would like to thank all participants for making this effort a success.
