4th September 2004 marked the official launching of Porsche's next successor to the 911 legacy, the 997 in Malaysia. The 997 launching, held at Bukit Tinggi, attracted 118 Porsches new and old up the hill from locations far North and South.

Set amidst a scenic backdrop garnished with cool breezes and melancholy architecture, the 997 launch was a wonderful experience. From the moment you check-in up to the after-launch fireworks; there were plenty of activities organized and attention to detail was everywhere. "It is a World Class act that Germany would certainly be proud of" according to a spokes person from Porsche, Germany.

There were cocktail parties and entertainment leading up to the grand dinner where the 2 new models for the Porsche 997, the Carrera and Carrera S were revealed to the public. Along the way fashion shows, cat walks, martial arts and live music kept the audiences busy while the chefs dished out the course meals. After the launch, the night was topped of by a spectacular fireworks display followed by a lounge session for those un-weary eyes. The following day proceeded with a heavy breakfast buffet and golfing sessions that would officially end the memorable event.

The 2 day fully funded event was made possible thanks to the efforts of Datuk Mokhzani Mahatir and his team of organizers from Auto Eurokars Sdn Bhd. The event set a record for the largest gathering of Malaysian registered Porsches in the country in collaboration with the Porsche Club of Malaysia.
